A Rocky Credit History Doesn’t Have to Prevent You From Achieving Your Financial Goals

In addition, they’d accumulated some high-interest credit card debt. So, when they wanted to purchase a home a few years later, their credit history presented too big a hurdle to qualify for a mortgage. A family member was able to assist them and obtain the home for them.

Fast forward a few years, and they wanted to refinance the mortgage so they could be the sole title and mortgagors of their home. But, once again, their credit history caused many lenders to turn away. First Contact

She received an introductory email from Chad and then a phone call. Rinette remembers that call as if it was yesterday.

“I wasn’t ready to do anything just yet as I was simply looking to gauge interest rates and see if we could qualify,” explained Rinette. “Given what had happened in the past, including the bankruptcy, I did not have high hopes that we could get a mortgage and achieve our goals. Following their first discussion, Chad was not able to immediately identify a loan program for which they would qualify. And his determination paid off as Chad was able to find a loan program for which they could qualify and which helped them achieve their goals.

During the loan application processing, other lenders contacted Rinette.

Rinette noted she probably wouldn’t have had the same results if she’d worked with another firm. In the end, Rinette accomplished her goal and then some. She was able to lower her monthly mortgage payment, pay off some of her high-interest-rate debt, get cash out, and, most important, the title and mortgage were in their name. With that came the peace of mind things had, in fact, gotten better.
